Hi Alex!
You might have noticed a few days ago I phased out the Traditional Mk-II and introduced the Traditional Mk-III set.
The previous Mk-II pickups have quite strong upper mids and while they enjoyed immense popularity since 2004 when the were introduced recently one or two customers told me the upper mids were too prominent.
When I did a side-by-side comparison to my genuine great old 60's Strat pickup I found myself agreeing with them to an extent. I began wondering about what I could do to soften the sound of the Mk-II pickups to compare with that nice old Strat pickup of mine.
Over the course of several weeks I developed some ideas and I made some experimental pickups accordingly. Straight away I was on the right path and with a little more work I got the result I was after and so the dawn of the Mk-III era begins.
The sound of the Mk-III is in many ways similar to the Mk-II with one exception, the upper mids have been subdued and now the overall impression have a more scooped sweetness, even more so than a nice example of a regular Strat pickup (particularly on full chords).
This new sweetness is achieved without loosing any projection or response from the plain strings.
The Mk-II's were a bit in your face, the Mk-III are agreeably sweeter, more vintage flavored. I think you're gonna like them.
All the best in Zero-Hum vintage sound .
