Here's what happens often; a new user connects the Axe-Fx, plugs in his or her guitar, tries a couple of factory presets and says: “Hey, this doesn’t sound as good as I had hoped for”. Often this is caused by not having configured the Axe-Fx correctly. As the Axe-Fx is geared towards professionals and enthusiast users (it ain't My First Modeler), there’s effort required to accomplish this task. And although it's getting easier to get great results with every firmware upgrade, there is a learning curve. Read the How-Tos below to get started. Also note that if you're using FR amplification, the Axe-Fx won't sound exactly like having a guitar amplifier "in the room". That's because the Axe-Fx mainly models tones of close-mic'd guitars. That's the guitar tones you hear on CDs and through a PA-system. If you are accustomed to listening to your 2x12 or 4x12, this will take some getting used to. Not for the audience though, it hears close-mic'd tones all the time.
