Dear gentleman, I really need your help concerning Z-9 programming via S.A.C. to Powerball II.
As I understood from the Z-9 user manual, I can assign any sound-shapin function to Function buttons 1&2. Ok, now I can do that easily.
As I also understood from the manual, buttons 1-4 can not only switch channels of the head, but if pressed twice, they can switch any sound-shapin
function assigned.
I want it to be like this: single press (LED lights) - simple channel switch , second press (LED flashes) - channel switch + FX loop on.
Singe press any other channel button (1-4) - simple channel switch + FX Loop off, second press - FX loop ON.
Is it possible to configure Z-9 to act that way?
I spend 3 hours reading the manual with Z-9 in my hands, but I still can not programm it.
Could you please give me step-by-step instruction how to make this happen?

it is not possible to program Z-9 this way.
Only Button "Function 1" and Function2"can be programmed. The Button Channel1-4 are not programmable.
All programmable Function are explained on Page 26 on your User Manual.
You can only programm the special functions (FX Loop on/off for example) program to Button "Function 1 or Function2"
So you must change your channel with Buttons Channel 1-4 and than press Function 1 or Funktion 2 to switch Fx-Loop

then I have two more questions just to make it more clear:
1. When I press any button 1-4 two times, it not only switches the channel, but it switches A/B master volume at the same time. Does that mean that only master volume A/B can be switched that way? No way to program any other function instead of master volume?
2. What is "reciprocal trigger"?

Can I get what I want using Engl Z-11 midi switcher and Engl Z-9 controller ?
As far as I understand Z-11 can send midi commands to Powerball-II via S.A.C. port.
So I can make presets with any sound-shaping functions I need and switch these presets?
Is that correct?

I don’t understand your question.
What should do the Z11 in this constellation? Should Z11 makes from the command: Change Master A/B the command FX Loop on/off?
You have a Z-9. You can change your channels by pressing Channel 1-4 also change Master A/B by pressing both the same button.
And you can program to Function 1, for example, the function FX Loop on/off.
So you need two presses to change the channel and changing FX Loop on or off.
It is the same if I press one button twice or press two buttons once.
Z-9 can NOT be programmed on Buttons Channel 1, Channel 2, Channel 3, Channel 4.
Only the Buttons Function 1 and Function 2 can be programmed with special functions like FX Loop on/off.

Z-11 is a MIDI switcher. In MIDI control we generally use presets. If I have MIDI in my amp I can make presets. For example: channel 1+FX loop ON, I can store this as a preset and then when I press button 1 it switches this preset, OK?
So, my Powerball 2 has no MIDI. Can I use Z-11 + Z-9 with my Powerball 2?
As I understand from Z-11 manual, it can send MIDI commands (presets) to Powerball via S.A.C.?

i contact our for your question, because your question was a little special. Here his answer:
the Z11-S.A.C. Switcher is a MIDI Switcher and a MIDI -> S.A.C. Interface at the same time;
that means it will control the Powerball Amp via the S.A.C. Port when receiving MIDI commands (MIDI IN # 10)
from a MIDI Footcontroller like the Z-9 (Z-9 can be used as "S.A.C." Footswitch or as a MIDI Footcontroller;
for more details please refer to the Operator's Manual). The Z11-S.A.C. Switcher receives MIDI commands
only (MIDI IN # 10) and distributes received MIDI commands to another MIDI device (MIDI THru # 9);
there is no "MIDI Send" Output port.
The Z11-S.A.C. is equipped with a Serial Amp Control Out jack (S.A.C. Output port, # 15)
which has to be connected to the S.A.C. Port (# 37) of the Powerball Amp via a 1/4" stereo jack cable.
The Operator's Manual of the Z11-S.A.C. MIDI Switcher explains very detailed how to
link the three units Z-9 & Z11-S.A.C. & E645 via the respective cables and the routines
in order to program the desired Amp settings via the Z11-S.A.C. Switcher to diverse
MIDI Programs.
As soon as the Z11-S.A.C. is employed as MIDI -> S.A.C. Interface between the
Z-9 Custom Footcontroller and the Powerball Amp, alls the remote controllable
functions at the amp can be switched with the Switch Loop buttons located at the
Front panel of the Z11 -S.A.C. Switcher. As soon as the desired setting at the amp
is achieved the current setting can be stored on the chosen MIDI Program Number
by means of the Write button in the Z11-S.A.C. There is a very detailed and precise
description in the Operator's Manual of the Z11-S.A.C. that gives instructions
step by step how to proceed from scratch.

На всякий случай переведу на русский, если вдруг кто корявый английский не разумеет
Запрограммировать Z-9 при использовании его как футсвича через S.A.C. так, как я хотел изначально,
невозможно. Кнопки 1-4 не программируются. Единственная доп. функция, которая может на них висеть и включаться двойным нажатием кнопки - переключение мастер-громкости A/B.
Какие-то две другие soundshaping функции могут быть назначены только на кнопки Function buttons 5-6.
Для того, чтобы управлять моим паверболлом так, как я хочу, нужно MIDI. А у паверболла нет MIDI. На этот случай у ENGL есть Z-11, это такой MIDI интерфейс, который умеет быть "переходником" между MIDI и интерфейсом S.A.C.
То есть я подключаю свой контроллер Z-9, который может работать простым MIDI-контроллером к Z-11 посредством обычного midi-кабеля, а сам Z-11 подключаю к усилку через S.A.C.
Настраиваю звук на усилке и запоминаю его как пресет на Z-11. Ну а потом кнопками Z-9 переключаю пресеты, как обычно с MIDI и происходит.
Единственный нюанс, что в случае с паверболлом набор доп. функций не сильно большой, можно запрограммировать следующее: один из 4-х каналов, мастер A/B, FX loop on/off, noise gate on/off, middle boost on/off.
