"I finally got my Alnico Tone Tubby that I always wanted to pair with my Ceramic in my 2x12 Soldano closed-back cab. (I was never totally blown away by the two ceramics together - not bad, but very heavy mids for me.) So for the past two years I've wanted to try the legendary h-bomb mix and just wired it up a couple days ago. WOW. Like night and day, the speakers just opened up and the tone from my HR50+ bloomed in 3D like I'd never experienced it. I'm not one to be swapping speakers and experimenting all the time. I've used V30's Scumbacks (LOVE them in my Soldano rig), vintage Jensen for different amps, etc. But I can't say that I'm a big speaker tweaker/tone cone chaser".
"I just put an H-Bomb in my Bruno closed-back cab and it was a big improvement over the 2 TT Ceramics I was using before. I'm a fan of mixing Alnicos and Ceramics anyway but my cab really sounds great now. I agree with the OP about 2 Ceramics having really heavy mids although I thought they still sounded good. However, it seems like the H-Bomb smoothed out the top while retaining just the right amount of sparkle. Huge bottom end too; almost too much. I had to dial some bass out to even things out".
