It varies from company to company, anywhere from 25 % to 50 % off list price. It also depends on your artist "level" People like Dave Mustaine or Kerry King are under a different level of company endorsement; and and generally do not pay as much or at all as a Band like Nile .

You get an icky phone call from the Artist rep at the company. For instance, any time a metal magazine runs a 10 year-old photo of me playing the old fender, I get a phone call from Dean .

There are general rules, but really how good your treatment at any given company depends entirely on where one is at in the "food chain". But that also varies from company to company - Dean treats us exceptionally well, Dean Zelinsky and Tony Purnell are the kinda guys who come to the show on tour and take us out to dinner, whereas the artist rep with Dunlop doesn't even bother to return my calls or emails. If I need dunlop supplies, the only one who bothers to care is the nice young lady who answers the phone and runs my credit card.
