Awesome-looking and rare
Gibson Les Paul Classic Antique from the company's Guitar of the Week 2007 series, week No. 5. This is
one of just 400 guitars made, and it features the radical, tie-dye-inspired striped finish designed by famed Marvel Comics artist Tom Morgan (Captain America, Iron Man, Punisher 2099). In addition to Morgan's signature artwork (signed on the bass side of the fretboard), this beauty also features classic Les Paul construction with its solid mahogany body and neck, maple top, and rosewood fretboard. Two open-coil '57 Classic pickups crank out supercharged PAF tone, and the control layout should be familiar to any Les Paul fan, with independent volume and tone controls plus a three way switch and Kluson-style tuners. For a touch of flare, the headstock is bound and features an abalone crown inlay (rather than Les's signature) and the truss rod cover has a raised gold foil "Classic" logo, rather than the typical white etching. No pickguard means that you can see more of Tom's stripes-and-fades design, and a black back and neck make the fiery colors really pop.
