Про основные изменения - по ссылке "про деревА". Много гитар стали изготавливать с использованием канадской древесины, в т.ч. и палисандра!
Но есть некоторые вновь введенные материалы, о которых умалчивают:
Richlite®: - (From wikipedia.com)

"Richlite is a dense material made from partially recycled paper and phenolic resin. Phenolic resin is made of formeldahyde and phenol. Individually, these are potent chemicals, but create a harmless, inert substance when combined. The paper is soaked in phenolic resin, then molded and baked into net shape in a heated form or press.

The paper used by Richlite is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a global non-profit organization devoted to encouraging and monitoring responsible management of the world's forests..."

сбыт - не сбыт??.. вот в чём вопрос..

Каталокс красивый - было бы прикольно черно белую накладь. 
У моего препода была немецкая виолончель, черная с белым - из редких сортов дерева. По ходу там использовалось дерево вроде каталокса - она некрашенная была, натурального цвета черная с белыми прожилками. ЗВучала - на голову круче обычных рыжих из елки.

... и добавил:

Кстате я себе урвал Студио 60 трибьют из отличнейшего темного палисандра.

во у нас народ инновации не любит 

каталокс реально симпатичный
да и на счет клена все наворчали...и при этом далеко не все пробовали

GunFighter, спс, да аксесс без флойда, что привлекло дак это сточеная пятка, в предыдущем меня это немножко(не сильно но все же) напрягало, а тут прям идеальна...
для флойда у меня солоист ))

"другой" это не страшно.. не буду махать красной тряпкой, но звук 70х один, 80х другой, 2000х третий.. а уж какой в 50х??.. недавно щупал страт немецкого мастера (!!), куплен за двушку.. просто великолепная гитара, однозначно выше классом всех делюксов, ре62, Джонсонов и многих кш диапазона от двух до трёх.. так вот он тоже "другой".. но ломовой..
