еще забавная инфа про гитары-иконы LP из 50-х
First of all original bursts had some Qc issues if you open your eyes and look at BOTB examples. Crooked tailpiece studs, wonky tuner installations to name just two. They are highly prized becaqse the design was good, good materials and they were rare. Gibson couldn't sell them at the time (we're talking prod numbers of 500+/- per year here) and only several years after did they start to really gain noteriety.
The skilled Kal workers being referred to earlier in this thread were called "heavy drinkers" by Robb Lawrence in his book & this from an LP fan himself.
Many of those people were long gone when Kal attempted to reproduce the LP some 8+ years later and Norlin Era LPs were for the most part a relearning experience for many years so it isn't this generations fault things changed, it started overe 40 years ago!
Norlin turned the plant from a profit center into a cost center furthering ruining incentive and improvement to facilities. IN fact that company was something in the order of 12MIL in debt when they sold out in the mid 80's to HJ (hardly a small amount in those days nor did it indicate a sucessfull company IMO)
