amirkhanov, Extremely Rare, one of a kind, 1964 LesPaul Standard Single Cut Guitar
here are said to be a few of these out there but this is the only one I've ever seen and I have been collecting vintage guitars for 40 years. That is until 1968 when Gibson officially reintroduced this model. The first few made in 1968 resemble this guitar in that the binding on the cutaway follows the arched maple top and they have the smaller headstock and lower positioned logo (I have personally seen a 68 gold top like this so I know they're out there) Gibson was said to have used up new old parts, necks, and bodies for some of these guitars as is with this one. Please note that the "made in USA" on the back of the headstock was hand written on there to make the guitar look more "modern" back in the day when people were spray painting tweed amps black for the same stupid reason.
On rare occasions Gibson would refinish guitars but this particular guitar bears the factory original serial number identifying it as a 1964 model and the entire guitar blacklights perfectly and uniformly.
I purchased this guitar about twenty years ago from the original owner in Atlanta Georgia. It originally had a pair of P90'S which I've never been very fond of. Back then these guitars were of a much lesser value so I didn't think twice of having a beautiful pair of original '59 "paf" humbuckers and tuneomatic installed ( as seen here) by the renoun luthier "Roger Griffin" Even with this modification this is still one very rare ax.
Very light weight (8lbs 1.4 ounces) w a nice medium round neck much like my 63 ES 335 makes this one of the nicest playing guitars on the planet. The original factory cherry sunburst finish resembles a '60 "burst" ( very red) and is in excellent condition w normal playing wear and some fading. Also has some light checking. The guitar has never been broken or cracked. The original tuning keys work as new and the neck plays perfectly. The only non original parts are the tuneomatic, stop tail, and the 3 way switch. It comes with the original switch that was not functioning properly but could be easily reinstalled if desired.
It was difficult to come up with a fair price but looking at what a 58 through 60 sunburst goes for and the fact that this guitar is rarer even with the pickup mod it should easily be worth the "buy it now" price. Think about it, what's the difference between a 58 goldtop and a 58 burst? The sunburst finish and about 150k; get it??? Whomever is lucky enough to buy this guitar they will be justly rewarded with many many years of enjoyment and a great investment. - BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE MORE PICTURES LINK.
