• Pickups & Controls: 2 exposed-coil humbucking pickups, selector switch near control knobs, no pickguard.
The Paul Deluxe (1980-85)
Thin single-cut solidbody, dot inlays, exposed-coil pickups
• Body & Hardware: thinsingle-cutaway solidbody,
mahogany body, beveled edges around lower treble bout, no pickguard.
• Neck: unbound ebony fingerboard, dot inlays, some with Firebrand on truss-rod cover but not a Firebrand (branded logo) model.
Pickups & Controls: 2 exposed-coil humbucking pickups, selector switch below tailpiece
The Paul II (1996-97) / The Paul II SL (Sans Lacquer) (1998):
Thin single-cut solidbody, The Paul II on truss-rod cover
• 3-piece thin mahogany body (not sandwich), carved top, no binding, Tune-o-matic bridge, Ebony or Wine Red finish (SL urethane finish
specified but not on all examples 1998).
• Neck: unbound rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, model name on truss-rod cover, decal logo.
• 2 exposed-coil humbucking pickups, 4 knobs, selector switch on upper bass bout.
