Thick and powerful, the Ampeg 8x10 has become a staple of rock music. A
simple sealed box with eight 10" produce a bottom that is big and tight
with attenuated mids and a pronouced bite. This particular SVT-810E cab
is a couple of years old, has seen some road wear and has the battle
scars to prove it. The Eden 410XLT cab has a much more pronounced
midrange provided by four 10" speakers and a horn in a vented
enclosure. This particular cab has seen quite a few club gigs and is
"broken in" just like the Ampeg.

There are eight impulses for each cabinet captured by four different
microphones through two different preamps. Included are the Audix D6,
Sennheiser e602, Shure SM-57, and Audio-Technica 4033 each run through
an Aphex 107 and an Allen & Heath MixWiz. All mics were dead center on
the dustcap of a speaker, right up on the grill with the exception of
the 4033 which was placed 3.5 feet back. The impulses were captured at
24/44.1 through a MOTU HD192 converter.
