Buckethead says hi

just wanted to say Reason 2.5 looks very cool.  the new distortion effects can add more color to your music, wha wha on drum loops sounds actually really cool.  to make music like Chemical Brothers with heavy guitar riffs and funky shredding solo.  the music that Buckethead "kind of" plays (current Guns N' Roses guitar playeer).  (Hey guys should check out  his Monsters & Robots Album).  Nobody knows who he is, because he wears white mask to hide his face.  some people say that he is Steve Vai but his style sounds more like Paul Gilberts.  He does some amazing tapping and right hand hummer on and pull off techniques.   if you guys want we can have chat on some tricks on Reason to learn more shit from each other.

you have to use it with with different software such as cube base
cool edit, pro tools or digital performer or any recording software that supports rewire.  rewire is the software that connects reason to other software such as for example Pro tools.  when you would need an audio interface where you have inputs for (for microphones like XLR or 1/4 inch) for example motu 828 but this one works only with Mac.  you cannot record guitar in reason!  so what you do is you record your reason track into e.g. Pro Tool.  you can individual tracks and record guitar into Pro Tools.  if you money Digi002 is pretty good.  it has midi and audio Interface plus mixer.  check it out on the web digidesign.

if you have guitar sample for example let's say E chord (or all 12 chord in 3 octave) you can insert them into NN-XT sampler and them this reason.  you add zone in NN-Xt then insert the samples.

tip on mixes make should you have flap response audio monitor otherwise it's going to sound off on different audio players

okay that's what i've already stumled upon so far. we've already had a discussion here in guitar.talk about reason (well it's in russian) and the question that's still left open - can i view separate reason tracks in a cubase window? so i can mix and adjust em together with guitar in one window.

and in cubase window, can i play reason realtime, via midi-keyboard, and moreover hear other reason tracks?

see, the bright idea is can i really work only in cubase window, turning to reasons window only when i have to change samples etc., you know?

watch out the latency
« Ответ #6 : Апреля 04, 2003, 12:53:32 »
you should install your midi interface in cubase.  freemidi.  then you should be able to play in real time the reason.  do not forget to setup latency, especially if you have a slow computer.

you should be able to record your reason tracks in cubase.  setup tracks in cubase with reason main output L&R channel.  L&R channel is main output from reason mixer.  so you have to record one track at the time.  you cannot assign every reason to in different cubase track.  actually reason principals is virtual instrument.

any PCI sound card is usually best.  i heared USB2 is pretty fast.  firewire is pretty good.  i just check Audigy card.  yeah it should work.  but latency also depends on how much ram you have.  with DP3 at least 512 is requered.  you should understand why drivers some times do not work.  because of different brands of product.  motu  828 works perfectlly fine with Digital performer 3.  check the specification of the sound card before you buy.  if they will support reason or cubase e.t.  the fucking Protools sound card have they own processors, imagine having sound card equvalent to the one whole computer and that's why you pay over 5000$ that sucks

just try to figure out your budget and the best things that suits you
