It was not a misprint,it was just an example that illustrated my idea.
You can do whatever,play B major natural to F minor dorian,or B lydian to F minor natural etc. But of course,like any jazz player,whenever I see IIm7 I think dorian.
I don't think that Giant Steps is the key to understanding AH's playing.AH is a self tought musician,he is absolutely original and he's not using any of what people call "jazz chords" or "jazz vocabulary",that's why he does not play or record with "jazz players".Giant Steps,however,is a quintessential be bop tune,highest peak in it's evolution,it just does not get any more"be bop" then this - fast,uncomfortable chord changes,weird melody etc.So,for me, AH and Giant Steps concept are very far apart,I may be wrong,though.
